Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is eligible for a new contract extension and he has some high expectations for what a potential deal will look like. He is hoping to be the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL.
Lamb said on Thursday his main focus right now is winning the Super Bowl next month, but that after that they will “start talking.” On the subject of being the NFL’s highest-paid receiver, he simply said “Ideally, yeah, for sure.”
Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill is currently the NFL’s highest-paid receiver at $30 million per year.
Lamb is still on his rookie contract with the Cowboys. His fifth-year option was picked up and carries a salary cap number of over $17 million next season.
Lamb is one of the Cowboys’ most impactful players and one of the NFL’s most productive wide receivers. He has already set a franchise record this season in receptions (122) and receiving yards (1,651). He has topped the 1,000-yard mark in each of the past three seasons and the 100-reception mark in each of the past two seasons.

Dallas has been hesitant to give out big contracts to wide receivers in recent years (most notably Amari Cooper), but Lamb is one of the best they have had in years.
Getting him signed long-term should be a priority for the front office as soon as the season ends. If they wait longer into next season, there is a good chance that Lamb’s price tag only goes higher and higher and that he might be tempted to test the open market and get top dollar.
