Yankees Still Seen As Frontrunners To Land Star Pitcher To Bolster Bullpen

It sounds like the Yankees could land one of the top available relievers soon

What will the New York Yankees do throughout the rest of the offseason?

It already has been a very intriguing, and expensive offseason for New York. The Yankees have made a flurry of moves and clearly look like a team that doesn’t want to win just 82 games again in 2024.

New York has significantly improved the roster on paper. The starting rotation is better, the outfield is significantly better, and the middle of the lineup should see a massive boost. The only area of the team that could still use another addition or two is the bullpen.

The Yankees have been linked to multiple hurlers at this point and currently are seen as one of the frontrunners to land former Houston Astros star reliever Héctor Neris, according to MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand.

“(Héctor Neris’) market began picking up steam in the past week, with the Yankees and (Texas Rangers) emerging as frontrunners, according to a source,” Feinsand said. “The (Philadelphia Phillies), (Chicago Cubs), and Astros are among the other clubs said to be seeking bullpen help (the Astros’ situation became a little more dire with the news that Kendall Graveman will be sidelined for all of 2024), and with less than a month before camps open, the market could begin to move soon.”

This isn’t the first time New York has been mentioned as one of the frontrunners for Neris. He is one of the top relievers available and a signing would go a long way in improving the Yankees’ already solid bullpen.

New York had the best bullpen in baseball last season. If the Yankees could land Neris, it certainly could retain that title in 2024.
