New York has been in plenty of rumors lately as the club looks to improve its bullpen. There still are a handful of intriguing options out there and the Yankees aren’t alone in looking for bullpen help.

One former member of the Red Sox is among the group of hurlers looking for a new home. Former Boston reliever Ryan Brasier is available and New York reportedly “have talked” to him about a possible deal, according to the New York Post’s Jon Heyman.

“The Yankees, currently focused on bullpen pieces, have talked to Héctor Neris, Phil Maton, Ryan Brasier, and Wandy Peralta,” Heyman said. “But they are alleged to be making low offers, perhaps due to the calendar or a supply-demand perception. As YES’ Jack Curry said, they could instead bring back Keynan Middleton instead. He’d cost less.”

Brasier certainly had a polarizing stint in Boston. He joined the Red Sox in 2018 and was impressive en route to the World Series championship. Brasier spent five-plus seasons in Boston and had an overall 4.55 ERA in 222 total appearances but really struggled toward the end.

He had a 5.78 ERA in 68 appearances in 2022 and then had a 7.29 ERA in 20 outings with Boston in 2023 before being let go. Brasier eventually landed with the Los Angeles Dodgers and completely turned things around.

Brasier had an eye-popping 0.70 ERA in 39 appearances with the Dodgers along with a 38-to-10 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
