Cardinals Deal QB Kyler Murray To NFC Rival In Blockbuster Trade Proposal That Would Drastically Shake Up The 2024 NFL Draft

There’s no indicator that the Arizona Cardinals and quarterback Kyler Murray want a divorce with the 2024 NFL Draft drawing closer.

But of course, it simply takes one trade offer to change everything. If one of the other 31 NFL GMs gives Arizona a can’t-refuse offer for Kyler Murray, perhaps the first overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft could be the headliner in a blockbuster trade.

After he helped the organization end a six-year playoff drought, Murray signed a five-year contract extension worth $230.5 million in the 2022 offseason. That lucrative deal kicks in this year, with the cap number coming in at $49.1 million, per OvertheCap.com.

Looking around the league, one NFC team stands out as the ideal landing spot for Murray. That would be the New York Giants, whom many believe will eye a quarterback in the first round of the NFL Draft.

What The Giants Should Offer Cardinals For Kyler Murray

With Murray carrying a massive contract of his own, the Cardinals would have to be willing to take on Jones’ deal to make this move. The Giants should offer Jones, the No. 47 pick in this year’s draft plus a 2025 third-round selection to the Cardinals for Murray. Just like that, Brian Daboll and the Giants have an explosive dual-threat QB to improve this offense in a way Jones never could.

This trade makes sense for Arizona because now they can take one of the top three remaining QBs after Caleb Williams goes first overall to the Chicago Bears. Arizona would get to choose whoever remains between LSU’s Jayden Daniels, North Carolina’s Drake Maye and Michigan’s JJ McCarthy.

Arizona would then get a new franchise QB on a cheap rookie deal. And they can get out of Jones’ contract next year with minimal financial charges anyway, paving the way for McCarthy, Daniels or Maye to emerge as the new star in The Desert.
