Cavs’ Max Strus reacts to surprise victory over Bulls in front of family, friends

The Cleveland Cavaliers took on a competitive Eastern Conference matchup against the Chicago Bulls. The Cavs won Saturday’s matchup 109-95 thanks to the efforts of Max Strus and a host of other players. Strus discussed what the victory against his hometown team meant to him.

Max Strus splurged for his friends and family ahead of the Cavs-Bulls matchup
The 27-year-old guard rented a suite at the United Center for his friends and family, and he was not shy about making the move:

“Got a little extra money in my pocket now so I can afford it. Took care of the family. Got a lot of people in town for the holidays so wanted to make sure they were comfortable,” Strus said, per NBC Sports Chicago.

Strus made the game worth watching after his impressive offensive display. The DePaul product scored 27 points and dished seven assists. The Cavs entered the matchup short-handed. However, Strus emphasized the mentality that allowed Cleveland to prevail.

“Just found a way to win. Next man up mentality. We had a lot of guys step up and had a lot of multiple efforts. Everybody played their part.”

Strus used the added motivation of playing in his hometown with the fact that the Bulls did not show much free agency interest in him to play well. He did not do it alone though. Jarrett Allen had a well-rounded performance that helped lift Cleveland.

The 25-year-old scored 19 points, grabbed 17 boards, and had seven assists. In addition, rookie guard Craig Porter Jr. impressed with 19 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds.

Hopefully, Cleveland can continue to play well amid their injury-ridden squad. The Cavs have a tough test against the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday, December 27th.
