The first home run of the 2024 MLB season belongs to Mookie Betts. With one swing, Betts earned himself more than the title of “first home run of the new season.” He also won himself a car.
An MLB partnership declared the first player to hit a home run in the Seoul Series would win a Hyundai. The winner is Betts.

Betts was one of just two players to hit a home run during the two-game Seoul Series between the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers. Padres’ Manny Machado also hit a homer, but there was only one car up for grabs.
Overall, Betts was fantastic for the Dodgers in South Korea. In game one, Betts recorded two hits, one walk and one RBI in four at-bats during a 5-2 win. The next day, Betts led the team with four hits, one home run, six RBIs, and two runs of his own in five at-bats.
All in all, Betts has begun the season hitting .667 and getting on-base .727 percent of the time. It’s only two games, but the six-time All-Star and former American League batting champion looks like he is on track for a(nother) career year.
Betts remains Mr. Consistent and Mr. Reliable for the Dodgers. Whether it’s switching positions to second base and then shortstop to help his team, or leading the scoring in their first two games of the regular season, Betts is one of the most valuable people to the franchise.
