For the first time since suffering a left hip contusion on December 20th, LA Clippers star Kawhi Leonard was a full participant in practice on Sunday morning. Clippers head coach Ty Lue told the media prior to practice that Leonard would be a full participant, which is something Lue called a good sign as it pertains to the star forward’s progress towards a return.
The Clippers have released their injury report for Monday night’s game against the Miami Heat, and Leonard is being listed as questionable again. While this is an unchanged status from the previous four games that Leonard missed, this feels like a more legitimate questionable listing, whereas the others felt more doubtful given Leonard’s lack of on-court work at that point.
Also listing Mason Plumlee to questionable for this game, there is a chance the Clippers get their backup center back in the mix as well. It remains to be seen what the Clippers plan to do with Daniel Theis once Plumlee returns, as the veteran big man acquired off waivers from the Indiana Pacers has done a solid job in his role, but this is a good problem to have for a team that did not have a backup center at this time last year.
