Two Lakers fans clearly did not know the rules of Tic-tac-toe as they played one of the worst games ever.
During a timeout in the game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the New York Knicks on Monday night, we saw two fans play one of the worst games of Tic-tac-toe ever. These usually end up being quite entertaining, but the two of them didn’t even seem to know the rules and it ended up being rather embarrassing.
It still boggles my mind that there are individuals who do not know the rules of Tic-tac-toe. Even if you somehow don’t, the least you can do before playing it in front of a huge audience is to check the rules.
You could see just how confused the announcer was as the two fans continued to mess up. He let it slide when the “Blue” contestant passed up the first chance to win but when it happened again, he had to step in and end the game himself. I do wonder how long this would have gone on had the announcer not stepped in.
The “Blue” contestant got a $100 gift card at the Team LA store thanks to this “victory” but he is probably going to be quite embarrassed by what happened out there. I get that pressure sometimes gets to people in this situation and they end up making mistakes, but this doesn’t seem to be that. They just didn’t know the rules, which is just so bizarre.
As for the actual game, the Lakers ended up losing 114-109 to drop to 15-12 in this 2023-24 season.
Other Epic Tic-Tac-Toe Fails At NBA Games
This is, of course, far from the first time that we have seen such epic fails at Tic-tac-toe. Back in 2018, two Indiana Pacers fans horribly messed up as well, and it was comedy gold.
Again, you could sense the pure shock in the announcer’s voice when the “Blue” contestant passed up a chance to win it, as he yelled, “What are you doing?” At least in this instance, it was clearly just the pressure getting to them, as they were trying to block the other person from winning rather than going for the win themselves.
Interestingly, tic-tac-toe fails famously occurred twice in 2018 in Portland. The first was in February of that year with two female contestants.
The most hilarious aspect of these has to be the announcers just being so bewildered by what they were seeing. Morgan passed up on her first chance at winning but got it done the next time at least. Then later that year in November, two other female contestants messed up as well.
Again here, you had a contestant being too focused on blocking the other from winning than going for it themselves. The announcer saying this is what happens here in Portland considering the incident earlier that year was just the cherry on top.
