Edmonton Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch said star center Leon Draisaitl could miss Friday night’s Game 2 of the Western Conference second-round playoff series against the Vancouver Canucks.
After assisting on Edmonton’s two first-period goals in the 5-4 loss, Draisaitl missed the last half of the second period. He headed to the dressing room after an abbreviated 10-second shift in the middle period.
Draisaitl returned for the third period, but looked uncomfortable on the bench and stiff and slow on the ice.
“Leon and Adam are day to day, and I will let you know tomorrow if they’re playing or not,” Knoblauch said following practice on Thursday, via Derek Van Diest of NHL.com.
Fellow center Adam Henrique missed the series opener with an undisclosed injury.
Draisaitl did not practice on Thursday.
Draisaitl is second on the team with 12 points (five goals and seven assists), behind only Connor McDavid, who had 13.
Draisaitl had 41 goals and 106 points in 81 games during the regular season.
