Come the 2024 NFL Draft, nothing is off the table for the Carolina Panthers.
At least that is how new general manager and former Panthers linebacker Dan Morgan sees it.
“I think sitting at 33, obviously, you have 32 teams ahead of you,” Morgan said to reporters Thursday. “So, we really gotta see how it plays out. I’m not gonna box myself in to any, like, ‘Hey, we’re not gonna do this, we’re not gonna do that.’ Ideally though, if we’re sitting there and there’s a really good player, we’ll take him. Trading up—those are discussions that we still have to have. So I think everything is on the table right now. I don’t wanna box us in right now.”
It is good that nothing is off the table for the Panthers.
The team has several needs that Morgan will have to address as soon as possible.
Currently, the primary concerns are tight end, edge rushers and wide receivers.
The Panthers have had several visits with players at each of those positions. And it is clear that if the Panthers see someone that the franchise likes, the team will be open to wheeling and dealing to land him.
The Panthers have pick No. 33. Meaning, the team doesn’t own a Day 1 selection. However, Carolina does have picks No. 39, No. 65, No. 101, No. 141, No. 142 and No. 240. There is enough of them to make substantial selections.
