As soon as Sean Stellato – dressed in his fedora and suit – appeared on the “Monday Night Football” broadcast of the Giants-Packers game earlier this month, he was a viral hit. Hilarious images of Tommy DeVito and his agent immediately circulated social media.
Many fans have had fun with this character in the DeVito storyline, but on that Week 14 edition of “ManningCast,” Peyton Manning was critical of the agent, referring to him as “slimy.”
The next morning, Stellato appeared on WFAN’s “Boomer and Gio” and addressed those comments, which Manning apologized for (while also ripping him for being on the sidelines) during this week’s broadcast.
During a Wednesday appearance on FOX Business Network’s The Claman Countdown, Stellato was again asked about the “slimy” comment.
“I look at it like this,” Stellato said. “Peyton Manning, I was very disappointed to hear that. You’re talking about one of the — the top players ever to play the game. And to hear that out of his mouth was very disappointing.
I have four daughters, a wife. And I live my life to be curious, not judgmental. And for him to just make assumptions, he doesn’t know the road I have traveled, nor my clients, they have traveled. And it’s been a lot of grit, a lot of cutting teeth, but doing it the right way.
And I can’t control any of that. All the media, all the hype that’s come around Tommy and I, I’m focused on my clients, which every day I’m fighting for, I’m staying resilient for, and I’m never backing down for. Anything else that comes out of it, I have no control, just that — the one thing every morning when I wake up, the decisions you’re making are going to affect your family or your clients.
And I can look at myself in the mirror and I’m proud of the decisions I’m making, because they’re in the best interests of those.”
DeVito, who is 3-2 as a starter for the Giants since taking over in Week 10, will face the Philadelphia Eagles on Christmas Day at Lincoln Financial Field.
