The New York Yankees cannot be thrilled with the recent news about one of their star players.
Gerrit Cole is the one consistent force in their starting rotation and the reigning AL Cy Young Award winner.
But, the Yankees recently got some worrisome news about Cole.
He is undergoing an MRI on his elbow as he has felt some discomfort.
Now the Yankees and all of their fans are waiting patiently for the results of that MRI.
According to Bryan Hoch, Aaron Boone said the Yankees do not expect results today or tomorrow.
The team wants to make sure Cole gets multiple opinions.
The Yankees do not expect to have a prognosis for Gerrit Cole today, and possibly not tomorrow either, according to Aaron Boone. There will be multiple opinions given regarding his course of treatment.

All the Yankees can do is cross their fingers and hope for the best.
Cole is the one consistent option the Yankees have in their rotation.
If he is lost for any period that can derail their season.
One issue for the Yankees over the past few seasons has been their inability to stay healthy.
Last season, they lost Aaron Judge for a long period, which led to their disappointing season.
If they lose Cole for an extended time, things could get ugly again for the Yankees.
One path the Yankees could try is by signing another pitcher.
Reigning NL Cy Young winner Blake Snell is available, as is Jordan Montgomery.
Both could help dampen the loss of Cole.
There is no replacing a pitcher like Cole, he is arguably the best in the sport.
But, the Yankees were hoping to go all-in for a World Series run this season.
All they can hope now is that the MRI on Cole comes back clean and he will be able to return to the mound soon.
